NEW DIRECTOR OF THE ANDALUSIAN FLAMENCO INSTITUTE

From Argot Flamenco we would like to congratulate the new director of the Instituto Andaluz del Flamenco, Cristóbal Ortega Martos, cultural manager and former director of the Bienal de Flamenco Sevilla, after having passed the public competition called by the Agencia Andaluza de Instituciones Culturales de la Junta de Andalucía, obtaining the highest score among the candidates who participated in the selection process published in the Boletín Oficial de la Junta de Andalucía (BOJA number 111, of 11 June 2021).

The appointment of the new director of the IAF is reflected in the BOJA, number 167, of 31 August 2021, among its tasks is the programming of all flamenco activities that are developed from the Ministry of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Junta de Andalucía, coordinate and promote policies related to flamenco art, as well as its conservation, promotion and recovery, another objective will be to establish measures to support the professional and associative network of flamenco.

Ortega Martos, emphasises the generation of new audiences through training and education, in the general lines of his project; as well as improving coordination and collaboration with the flamenco peñas.

Another of its objectives is to promote new ways of collaboration with the festivals and the different events that take place in Andalusia, as well as to reinforce the performances of the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía.

Otra de sus propuestas de mayor brevedad, son la conmemoración de los centeneraios de Antonio “El Bailarín” y el Concurso de Cante Jondo de Granada.
