29 Jun FINE ARTS GOLD MEDALS FOR FLAMENCO
Hoy en nuestro blog desde Argot Flamenco queremos darle la enhorbuena a los artistas que recibieron la pasada semana el galardón al mérito en las Bellas Artes de las ediciones de 2018 y 2019. Concretamente a los grandes artistas de flamenco como son: Manuela Carrasco, María Vargas, El Pele, Pepe Habichuela, Serranito y también a una excelente labor y un merecido homenaje a las Peñas Flamencas “La Platería” y “El Taranto”.
The ceremony was held on Friday 23 June at the Royal Palace of El Pardo, where King Felipe and Queen Letizia presented the medals to the artists, thus recognising the effort and courage of cultural professionals, especially at such a difficult time for the sector due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has been a very difficult year for the cultural sector and for flamenco, which has received hardly any aid from the public administrations, despite the fact that many families are involved who are currently professionally dedicated to music, theatre, performing arts, etc., etc.
We are grateful that the public administrations recognise the cultural work of artistic professionals, but we also ask for their help to carry on with our daily work. There are thousands of families who contribute all their art and we need all the support and backing to keep culture alive and safe, as has been demonstrated.
We hope that in the coming months, we will be able to recover our activity and have some normality in the different cultural events, always following the protocols and sanitary measures until the end of this pandemic.
