LVII CONCURSO NACIONAL CANTE JONDO ANTONIO MAIRENA 2018

Last Friday August 31 was held at the Casa Palacio Duques de Arcos in Mairena del Alcor (Seville) the final of the LVII Concurso Nacional de Cante Jondo Antonio Mairena. The finalists were the following artists:

1. ÁLVARO RODRÍGUEZ ARENAS
(Órgiva - GRANADA)
2. MANUEL ROMERO JIMÉNEZ
(Pedrera - SEVILLA)
3. Fº JAVIER HEREDIA HERNANDEZ
(Linares - JAEN)
4. EDUARDO HIDALGO FORT
(Valdivia - BADAJOZ)
5. ROCÍO BELÉN CUESTA ESPINA
(Almonte - HUELVA)

The winner of this contest was the cantaor payo Manuel Romero Jimenez from the Sevillian town of Pedrera, better known in the world of the art of flamenco singing with the stage name of MANUEL ROMERO "EL COTORRO", the prize was awarded as the best cantaor. He was also awarded the Calixto Sanchez Award for the recognition of the best "malaqueña".
