38TH CÓRDOBA GUITAR FESTIVAL

38TH CÓRDOBA GUITAR FESTIVAL

During the month of July, from the 4th to the 14th, the capital of Cordoba becomes the City of the Guitar. The Festival is organised by Cordoba City Council and the Municipal Institute of Performing Arts.

The Cordoba Guitar Festival (Spain) is a very important cultural event, now in its 38th edition, consolidating its position as the creative and leisure offer of major festivals around the world, and all thanks to the diverse and different musical and artistic activities that take place around the instrument of the guitar.

The organisation of the Guitar Festival offers several programmes: Training, Concerts and Shows, and Complementary Activities.

In the Training Programme, courses have been organised on guitar construction, old guitar, classical guitar, flamenco guitar, contemporary guitar, modern guitar, composition courses for guitar, and flamenco dance and singing courses.

Within the Programme of Concerts and Shows, there is room for different and varied musical styles with the guitar as the protagonist. The Festival of Cordoba has seen the greatest figures of flamenco guitar, modern guitar, jazz, classical and ancient music. We would like to highlight the performances of the artists on the different stages:

Teatro Góngora: María Pagés, Marcin Dylla, Marta Pereira Da Costa, Lekhfa, Manuel Barrueco, David Russel, Sara Tavares, Berta Rojas, Juan Carlos Romero and Joao Bosco.

Teatro Axerquía: Los Secretos Sinfónico, Pat Metheny, Jorge Drexler, Miguel Poveda, Mike Stern/Randy Brecker Band, Bryan Ferry, Europe, Serrat and Vicente Amigo.

The musical and educational offer is completed with a series of Complementary Activities, which include a varied programme, such as the traditional Study Days on the history of the guitar, exhibitions, presentations, publications...
